Bella 13984 Rocket Extract Pro Review

When we talk about compact blenders the first brands that come to mind are the Nutri Bullet and Nutri Ninja.

Make no mistake those brands manufacture high quality compact blenders that is tried and tested.

But those blenders costs over $100 but they don’t come with the goodies that this blender comes with or the even warranty.

A challenger to the Nutribullet and Ninja

The 13894 Rocket is Bella’s answer to the Nutribullet and Nutri Ninja. A small blender that comes with travel lids designed for people on the go.

This would be perfect for fitness nerds that want a tool that can make their smoothies or protein shakes without having to bring out a large and heavy blender.

What you’ll get from the box

Not only does it come with the standard blending blades, Bella also included a grinding blade that will chop up dry ingredients.

It also comes with 5 total cups. Three 24-ounces cups and two 12-ounce cups which is more than the other two brands offer.

Longer warranty

The best part for me is the warranty. While the Nutribullet and Nutri Ninja only offer a one year warranty, Bella backs their product up with an insane 2 year warranty. For a $40 product, this is a great warranty.

Let’s look at the features of this budget small blender:

  • 700-watt motor
  • Comes with two cutting blades – a emulsifying blade and a cutting blade (the latter is for grinding dry ingredients)
  • Stainless steel metal
  • All cups are dishwasher safe and BPA free
  • Comes with three 24-ounce cups, two 12-ounce cups, three solid lids, one travel lid, two lip rings and one shaker lid
  • 2 year warranty
  • 12.2″ tall

Pros

  • Compact size is lightweight and easy to wash
  • Great warranty for a blender at this price range
  • Lots of accessories included
  • A cheaper than the more expensive Nutri Ninja Pro

Cons

  • There are complaints of leakages from the blade to the motor base (this is a common problem for this type of blenders not just the Bella)
  • Blades are not as sturdy or as sharp as the Nutri Ninja

What to expect from this compact blender

Features

In a lot of ways this blender is a mirror image of the Nutri Bullet Pro. It has a similar blade design and the base aside from the color difference looks alike.

Motor

This is powered by a 700 watt motor while the Nutri Bullet Pro is powered by a 900 watt motor so there’s a 200 watt difference.

In terms of performance both machines aren’t too far apart.

Smoothie maker

Like the Nutribullet, this blender is capable of blending smoothies without any issues. Even if you put some leafy greens. Just remember not to overfill it to prevent leaks.

You’ll get a love of value for the money you’ll spend on this.

Out of the box, you’ll get the following

  • 3 – 24 ounce cups
  • 2 – 12 ounce cups
  • 3 – closed lids
  • 1 – travel lid
  • a shaker lid
  • emulsifying blade (for making smoothies)
  • chopping blade (for dry ingredients)

Here’s what you’ll get in the box and a brief demo on how to turn on this machine (hint: it’s very easy)…

BPA Free

All the cups are BPA free and dishwasher safe. But you’ll have to load it on the top rack so the heat from the dishwasher does not deform the cups.

Easy to use

This blender only has one speed setting. And similar to the other brands I mentioned you just line up the cup to the slots on the base, push then twist to engage the motor.

It does not take long for this machine to make smoothies – just under a minute. And the great thing about this is you can take the cup with you to work or to the gym. Just switch the blade with a lid and off you go.

What can this make?

This machine is primarily a smoothie maker.

You can make green smoothies and protein shakes using the stainless steel emulsifying blades.

Smoothies

Here’s a video of the Bella Rocket Extract Pro in action making a green smoothie that includes Flax milk, some ice cubes, spinach, wheatgrass, banana and whey protein.

Take note that with this types of blenders, you should always put in liquid so you don’t burn out the motor.

Always put in the ice cubes and greens last so when you turn the cup, that’s the first that the blade touches and blends.

This prevents any stalling and you’ll get a consistently smoothie drink every time you blend it.

Smoothies with ice

How about an iced cold smoothie with lots of berries and some spinach?

Well, here’s a demo on the ability of this blender to go through ice, frozen fruit (in this case mixed berries), some spinach, crushed pineapple and apple juice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct3aO-T2yZw

Side note on the apple juice, I would not recommend you putting store bought apple juice as it is high in sugar. I’d rather put in soy milk, coconut water or plain water.

Is it easy to clean?

Yes very easy. When you make your smoothie to take out, the only thing you’ll need to wash is the blade assembly and you just rinse it out with water.

Just rinse it out ASAP and don’t wait for it to dry or it will be a pain to clean caked on fruit or vegetable.

The cups are dishwasher safe but make sure to rinse out the residue so it doesn’t clog up and make a big mess inside the dishwasher.

Warranty

This blender comes with a 2 year warranty by Bella which is a year more than the Nutri Ninja and Nutribullet.

What do consumers think?

People who bought this blender like the blending power from the not so big 700 watt motor.

They were able to make green smoothies and crush ice (with some liquid in it of course).

This could be the reason why some of the consumers who use this run this unnecessarily longer than needed which could possibly burn out the motor.

Cheaper than the Nutri Ninja

A number of folks actually chose this over a Nutri Ninja because it was way cheaper. And still able to produce really smooth smoothies. The chopping blade attachment was a nice addition which allowed users to chop up flax seeds and some coffee beans.

The cups that came in the package were wide and was good enough for single serve drinks. Some women mentioned that even the 12 ounce cup was more than enough for them.

Don’t run this too long

A few consumers mentioned that you should avoid turning on the motor for an extended period of time so you don’t burn it out.

To prevent the motor from burning out, you’ll need to pulse it a few times to help get things going then run it.

But never run it for more than 30 seconds.

Always add some water

I’ve already mentioned this and I’ll mention it again here, always add a little bit of liquid in every smoothie you make with this – at least a small cup so you don’t burn out the motor.

Some potential issues

The weakest link in this product would be the blades. I’ve read numerous complaints about leakage.

The most important thing to remember here is not to overfill the cups when making smoothies and don’t over tighten it so it wouldn’t be a pain to remove.

Another potential failure point would be the plastic gears that connect the motor to the blade. This part will wear out over time but with the 2 year warranty, you can just call Bella and have it replaced without any problem whatsoever.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this compact blender from Amazon for less than $30!

And this will be eligible to the 2-day free shipping if you join Prime. Another reason to buy in Amazon would be the extended warranty they offer up to 4 years!

To Wrap Up

This blender would be great for people who want a Nutribullet or a Nutri Ninja but could not afford one. It offers pretty much the same features as the other two brands but at half the price.

Sure it does not match them in terms of power but if you’re just making smoothies this is a good alternative and it comes with a very good 2 year warranty.

If you’re new to blending, I highly recommend this product as it is easy to store, easy to clean and it is cheap – one of the best value-for-money products in the market right now.
