What to expect from this KitchenAid?

This machine feature wise can match the Vitamix and Blendtec products I wrote about earlier.

It may not have the same power as the two brands I mentioned. It has a similar sized (4 ounces smaller) pitcher to go along with 5 settings and an ice crush preset that will automatically crush ice for you.

Hassle free warranty

The best part is for a few hundred dollars less, you still get a pretty decent 1 year hassle-free replacement warranty.

This means that if something goes wrong, you can just contact Amazon or Kitchenaid. and get a replacement blender free of charge. Remember that terms and conditions will apply.

Now let’s go to the other features

Features

I mentioned that it came with a 60 ounce pitcher.

Stain resistant and dishwasher safe

This container is shatter proof. It also is resistant to scratches and stains.

You can also put it in the dishwasher because it is dishwasher safe.

Metal coupling

The coupling (part that connects the motor and blade) contains steel and nylon that makes it stronger and will last longer compared to plastic.

The purpose of the nylon coating is to dampen the noise which makes this a little bit less load.

Katie Pilkington from CNet said it performed well in all their tests saying that even it had a narrow pitcher which contributed to its height.

Having a narrow container allows to the blade to more reach and have a smoother blend.

Also the container is design as such that it creates a vortex that forces ingredients downwards. This downward action helps achieve a smooth and chunk free drink.

Comparable performance to a Vitamix?

Compared to more expensive blenders like the Vitamix, performance was pretty close but with the price difference you can count this as a winner.

The control layout also isn’t overwhelming.

You’ll see a total of 8 buttons that include the 5 speed setting, the pulse, ice crushing and power button. Learning curve isn’t steep so you don’t need to spend hours looking at the manual just to use this machine.

What can this make?

This machine is more than just a smoothie maker. Again if you look at the review in CNet they really put this blender through a lot – like chopping ingredients without adding water. One of the tests they did was making pesto and it passed with flying colors – producing consistent and uniform pesto in 15 pulses.

In a pancake test, this blender was able to make a smooth batter thanks to the narrow pitcher design.

Getting the batter off the pitcher was another story but this shows you the versatility of this machine.

This machine was also able to process almond butter, shred cheese and crush ice.

To show you how this crushes ice (3 ice cubes and frozen berries) without have to put water watch this…

Is it easy to clean?

The narrow bottom and the sharp blade will discourage you from cleaning the pitcher by hand what you can do is fill up the pitcher with around 4 cups of water then add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Then press the stir option to mix in the water and soap mixture around.

Another option would be placing the pitcher inside a dishwasher (top rack only) to clean – this is dishwasher safe by the way. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly before doing this.

Warranty

According to Amazon this comes with a 1 year “Hassle-Free” Replacement warranty.

If you look at KitchenAid’s website it says there that it also comes with a 5 year limited warranty which is pretty good for a product in this price range.

What do consumers think?

A lot of the people who left a review had something positive to say about the Diamond blender.

Cheaper than a Vitamix

A lot of them would compare it to the Vitamix saying that they preferred this because it was a few hundred dollars cheaper and the performance was not too far off.

Folks would even use this to crush ice and it did not disappoint.

More than a smoothie maker

Some would share that they’ve used this to make smoothies (with frozen fruit), margaritas and daiquiris. The result was great – it was smooth and consistent with almost no chunks whatsoever.

Easy cleanup

Cleaning was also easy, just pour in a few cups of water and a drop of dish washing liquid then set it on stir. That was enough to thoroughly clean this machine.

Consumers like how the pitcher is dishwasher safe because it saves them time.

Some potential issues

I’ve read complaints about the plastic coupler disintegrating because it’s plastic. Remember that the newer blenders that have come out have metal couplers. This will no longer be an issue.

Another complaint was a leaking pitcher but others said that this was not a problem at all. Other complaints include the motor burning out and other quality control issues.

Overall this blender would be able to do the job in the kitchen well whether it be making smoothies or chopping vegetables.

And at a lower price than the Vitamix 5200 but it does not have a strong motor than the vitamix so this could be an issue long term but for budget conscious individuals who can’t afford a $400 blender this is a great option.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this from Amazon for just less than $90. And you can get 2-days free shipping if you  join Prime. If the 1-year warranty is too short then you can purchase an extended warranty up to 4 years.

To Wrap Up

If you cannot afford a $400 blender like a Vitamix this should be a good second or third option because despite the smaller motor reviews prove that it is still capable of making smoothies, pesto, mix batter, crush ice plus a bunch of other things.

This versatility made it highly rated in Amazon.

The main container is comparable to the Vitamix at 60 ounces. And it has a varied enough set of buttons that will give you control on the type of recipes you’ll make.

Size wise it doesn’t take up a lot of space horizontally but vertically you’ll need to clear at least 16 inches of space to fit this under any cabinet on the counter top. It comes does come in a variety of colors so if you’re particular in that aspect – this is great news for you.

It will not come with as long a warranty but it does have a 1 year replacement warranty just in case something breaks within the period you’ll get a new one for free.
