Tribest Green Star GS-3000 Review: A Versatile, All-Around Food Mill

Eating more green leafy vegetables is a great way to live a healthier lifestyle.

Experts, say that you need at least 5 to 6 servings of these vegetables (and fruit) to meet your daily nutritional requirements.

Now eating 5 to 6 services per day is difficult based on experience.

Imagine eating 1 to 2 pounds of vegetables each day, how tough it is to your digestive track.

The Green Star GS-3000 will help you consume all the vegetables you need to meet your dietary requirements.

It does it with two gears that will cut, crush and extract juice from both vegetable and fruit efficiently.

There is a little bit of learning involved, but it is not very steep as you’ll see in the videos below.

Features of the Tribest Green Star GS-3000

Green Star GS-3000 Features

Here’s the product overview from Raw Nutrition…

This will work best on…

…Green leafy vegetables because the twin gear system is very efficient in extracting juice from it.

It doesn’t have the 3-stage system as the GSE-5000, but the difference is minimal.

You can also extract juice from harder ingredients like carrot or beet, but you’ll need to exert effort to push it through the juicer.

Now, this may not be for everybody because you’ll need some upper body strength to use this juicer so people with arthritis or a similar condition may not be able to use this.

You’ll notice that it sucked in the wheatgrass and parsley. You’ll need to exert some effort pushing harder ingredients in carrots, apples, and celery.

So if you don’t have a condition like arthritis or a little weak in your upper body, this may not be the juicer for you.

A slow juicer like the Omega VRT would be better for you because it is self-feeding.

Can it juice wheatgrass?

It can juice wheatgrass but if you juice only wheatgrass, it will create a lot of foam and won’t be as efficient as a single auger juicer like the Omega 8006 or the Samson juicer.

It also comes with a blank homogenizing plate that will allow you to make nut butter, sorbets, baby food, salsa, and pasta, to name a few.

You can also make breadsticks with the breadstick maker set included in the package.

So a lot comes with the package.

How long can you store juice?

This rotates at a slow 110rpm so there will be very minimal oxidation in the juice. You can store juice for up to 48 hours, sometimes even up to 72 hours if it isn’t very humid.

Just make sure that you store it in a glass jar, overfilled and refrigerated. But I’d recommend that you drink it as soon as you make it.

How much preparation is needed?

The feed chute is small at just 1.5 inches wide all around so you’ll need to pre-cut fruits like apples, oranges, and lemon as well as large vegetables like carrots.

The good news is you don’t need to pre-cut leafy vegetables because the gears have cutting teeth that will do that for you, so that will cut prep time somewhat.

How much juice can it extract?

A twin gear juicer will extract more juice from single auger juicer because it has two crushing gears and the adjustable outlet port that controls backpressure on the pulp.

You can even get the pulp and dump it in the juicer again to extract even more juice.

Here’s a comparison between the GSE-5000 and GS-3000

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpGUKai124s

The GSE-5000 extracted around 20-30cc more, that’s because it has a 3-stage system that is more efficient.

Is it hard to clean up?

There are several parts to clean so that it will take a bit longer to clean if you compare it to cleaning a horizontal auger juicer.

It does come with a cleaning brush that will help you clean the juicing screen.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Tribest says that this isn’t dishwasher safe so wash it by hand. It will only take less than 10 minutes to clean.

Is it BPA free?

Tribest does not specify if this is made from BPA-free components or not.

This juicer is pretty quiet, so you’ll be able to juice and talk to your spouse at the same time.

Motor

It is powered by a 190-watt motor that spins the two gears at 110rpm.

Dimension

  • 6.5” x 12” x 18.5” (width x height x depth)

Consumer Rating

This juicer is a bit under the radar so it didn’t as many reviews the newer GSE-5000, but consumers who left reviews had a lot of positive things to say, one of which is the quality of juice which was excellent.

They could store the juice for a couple of days, and it would still taste great.

This means that if you’re a busy professional who doesn’t have time every morning to prepare, you can make one big batch and store it in the refrigerator.

Another positive was the amount of yield, some consumers who bought this had previously used a centrifugal juicer, and they said the difference was night and day.

A lot of centrifugal juicers (especially cheap ones) tend to waste a lot of produce because it simply isn’t efficient particularly with leafy greens.

Common complaints here was the difficulty to clean and the effort needed to push the pulp through.

I talked about the later earlier in this review, since the gears don’t have any sharp blades, so you need to push hard produce like carrot through the feed chute.

Not for people with weak upper body strength.

Cleaning can take a little bit of getting used to because there around seven parts you need to disassemble and clean.

The toughest part to clean would be the screen and gears, but it comes with a cleaning brush which makes this task easier.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this juicer from Amazon for less than $600, and you’ll get 2-day shipping if you enroll in Prime. Yes even if it’s just a free 30-day trial, they’ll ship it in 2-days. Another place where you can buy this would be in TribestLife, and it also comes with free shipping.

The verdict

This juicer is excellent for people who are looking to incorporate green juice into their diet with a lot of green leafy greens in it.

The twin gears will crush and squeeze out a lot of juice and leave a dry pulp – one of the driest in the juicing industry.

It can be a little challenging to assemble and disassemble because it uses thumb screws to secure the two gears and housing so people will tend to over or under tighten it.

The adjustable outlet port also takes a little trial and error to get it right because if you tighten it too much, it can cause back up. So there is some learning curve.

If you want something that you can use out of the box, something like an Omega 8004 or 8006 would be better for you.

If you’re looking to buy this, check out the GS-5000 because it only costs $20 more and it comes with a more extended warranty.
